What God Says About You: CHOSEN


               Hello everyone! I know I haven’t posted in a while, but the Lord put something very special on my heart to share with you. I am going begin a series of posts about what God says about you, starting with this one. Once you have been saved, you get a new identity. In this series, I will pull verses from the Bible that reveal your true identity in Christ. To begin, I’d like to start with CHOSEN. You were CHOSEN to be a part of God’s master plan. 

When you have accepted Christ as your Savior, you become part of God’s family. But before the universe existed, you were CHOSEN. God knew you would choose Him.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…”
Jeremiah 1:5

                You were set apart by God as one who was CHOSEN. He knew you, knew your name, and knew exactly how many hairs would eventually be on your head, even when the earth was void. He knew every choice you would ever make, including the outcome of your most important choice. He knew exactly when you’d take your first and final breaths, but He also knew every moment in between. He knew everything about you before life existed. But He also knew you would CHOOSE Him and He set you apart. When Jesus was on earth He knew which disciples would betray Him and who would continue on with Him. Those who continued with Him became the apostles, and they would bear fruit or make more disciples. This is the command Jesus gives us in John 15:16.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
John 15:16

 So before the earth was created, you were CHOSEN to be a part of God’s family. Now that you are CHOSEN and have seen the light, you know the joy that the light brings. Share that joy with others. Go and bear fruit. Make disciples. This was Jesus’ command and we were CHOSEN for it. Share with others how they are CHOSEN by an almighty God. Make God’s love and grace known. In our world today, we need this hope. We need the hope that something much bigger than us is unstoppable. We need the hope that something bigger than us is in control. You have that hope. It’s a shining light within you. You can minister to others. You can reveal truth to them. As one who is CHOSEN, you have been called by the Creator of the universe to share His story with others. There are people all around you: co-workers, grocery store employees, friends, neighbors, and teachers, all of which you come in contact with almost every day. Some of those people don’t know anything about being CHOSEN. Before I go any further, I want to share with you something I found on Pinterest one day and have loved ever since:

“You are the only Bible some unbelievers will ever read.”

This encouraged me greatly since I had never thought about it that way. Some people can’t bring themselves to read the Bible. But you have the Bible’s Author inside your heart, and as you study, you’ll have its verses in your mind. God has CHOSEN you, and now it’s up to you to CHOOSE.

Sin

I’ve talked a lot about sin in the past. Sin is one of those unavoidable topics when you’re talking about Christ and the Gospel. Sin was the main reason Jesus came and died on the cross. Because of sin, we were separated from God. But, as I have discussed before, when Jesus rose from the dead, that meant we will rise again in Heaven with Him if we repent and accept Christ as our Savior (1 Corinthians 6:14). But that isn’t the end of the story. That’s why the Holy Spirit led me to write a post about sin.                 Almost everyone knows the story of Adam and Eve. I would send "sermons" through letters to my neighbors. God put it on my heart through some very special people to start a blog. And here we are! My posts come from many different places.
