What God Says About You: MASTERPEICE
Hello everyone! This is my fourth and last post in my “What God Says About You” series. When I started to write this post, I was reminded of a children’s book called “You Are Special” by Max Lucado. Even though it’s a children’s book, it’s a powerful allegory that explains a very small part of God’s vast love for us.
The story begins with a village that was filled with little wooden people called the Wemmicks. Every Wemmick was different, but they were all created by Eli, the woodworker. Every Wemmick had a box filled with gray dot stickers and star stickers. The little people would give stickers to every other Wemmick in sight. The Wemmicks that were talented, beautiful and in good condition were immediately given stars. But the ones with chips, peeling paint and no talent, were given dots. Punchinello was a Wemmick who was always given dots. He had so many that he was afraid to go outside for fear that he would do something wrong and receive another dot. One day, Punchinello met a wooden person named Lucia. She had no dots or stars. Every time someone tried to put a sticker on, it would fall off. She said that the stickers wouldn’t stick because she went to spend time with Eli in his workshop every day. Punchinello decided to visit Eli himself.
Punchinello arrived in the workshop, which was much, much bigger than the small Wemmick. Though he doubted that his maker would even know he was there, Eli called him by name and said that he had been waiting for him. Eli reminded Punchinello that he didn’t care about what all the other Wemmicks thought. He told Punchinello that he was special. When Punchinello asked why stickers didn’t stick to Lucia, Eli replied and said that the stickers had no meaning to Lucia. She realized that only her Maker’s opinion mattered. Eli explained that once Punchinello came to the same conclusion, the Wemmick’s stickers wouldn’t stick to him either. At the end of the story, one by one all of Punchinello’s stickers slowly peel off.
I am so thankful for this reminder. Eli represents God, our Maker who carefully crafted each and every one of us. Punchinello represents humans in general. We may not go around all day sticking stickers on each other, but we do easily pass our opinion and judge others. Even if we don’t say it to them directly, we are still judging. Just as a side note, God commands us not to judge others in Matthew 7, but that is beside the point. The point is that you are a MASTERPEICE. If you don’t think so, then you are now opposing God because He says that you are, “…fearfully and wonderfully made…” (Psalm 139:14) by a perfect and flawless Creator. God doesn’t make mistakes. God is using your circumstances to prune you and mold you into who He wants you to be. You might not be perfect in their eyes, but you are perfect in His eyes. You are a MASTERPEICE.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10
I hope this encouraged and inspired you as well as many others.
Love Grace
