Valentine's Day!
Valentine’s Day. An entire holiday built around hearts,
ginormous teddy bears, and chocolate. Gotta love the chocolate. But even though
all these things are great (like the chocolate), Valentine’s Day is about one
thing. Love! But there is more than one kind of love. The first kind is the
most commonly known kind of love. It’s the kind of love that most people think
about when they hear the word “love”. It’s the romantic kind of love. This is
the kind of love that Valentine’s Day is built around. Like the love a boy
might have for a girl.
The second is the kind of love a
child has for their parents or the kind of love we have towards God. The Bible
tells us about it in Matthew.
“Jesus replied: ‘Love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
mind’”
Matthew 22:37
Matthew 22:37
But the Bible tells us about another
kind of love. Like the love two friends might have for one another in Romans.
“Be devoted to one
another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.”
Romans 12:10
Romans 12:10
In this world there are people who
are going to annoy you, pester you, and even push your buttons. This is just
part of life. But we need to treat others with the same respect we have for
ourselves. This Valentine’s Day, show others this kind of love that Romans 12:10
tells us about. Be devoted to one another! Respect one another! Treat others
the way you would like to be treated!
I would like to point out, however,
that it’s a lot easier to type these words to encourage you, rather than
actually carry these words out. I am human, just like you (not some crazy psychopath
from mars), and I have trouble with these same problems I’m telling you about.
Actually most of the time, that’s where I get my blogs. From real life
experiences that happen in my daily life! I just put these experiences into writing,
hoping to encourage you.
Thank you so much for reading, and
remember to show others that you have RESPECT for them. And that Valentine’s
Day isn’t all about the chocolate. (Awe man! L)
I hope this
encouraged and inspired you as well as many others!
